What's Up for the Weekend?

The weekend forcast looks a bit of a mixed bag, so here's a mixed bag of things to do!

Take in a performance of "13 The Musical", presented by the West Middle School Drama Club. Support the kids and have a great time.  Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 1 pm at the Andover school.

More theater on your mind? Head to the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newbuyport to see "Charley."  Adapted from the popular novel, it tells the story of a hungry orphan roaming the Boston streets a century ago and hoping to be adopted. The Massachusetts Poetry Festival takes place in downtown Salem, MA Friday through Sunday.  There will be nearly 100 poetry readings by 150 poets, as well as workshops, a small press and literary fair, panels, poetry slams, and open-air readings. http://www.masspoetry.org/festival2018/

Saturday from 10 - 3 is the Third Annual Baby Goat Day at Blue Seal Feeds in Windham!  Feather and Scale Farm's Nigerian Dwarf goats will be in the petting pens, plus a firetruck to check out, snacks and activities for the family.  43 Main Street in Windham, parking is at 35 Main Street.

Addison LeBoutillier Exhibit at the Andover Historical Society.  The noted architect was also a versatile artist designing for Boston-based jewelers Bigelow, Kennard, & Co and Grueby Pottery, popular for its home decoration during the Arts & Crafts movement.  See treasures from Andover Historical’s LeBoutillier collection not normally on public view, including St. Sigebert, a model of an imaginary medieval village crafted over a period of seven years, tools and architectural designs and models of Andover buildings. 

Visitors can visit the nearby Christ Church built by the architectural firm Hartwell & Richardson in 1887 that includes reredos, stenciled ceiling design, small wood carvings and the parish hall structure all created by LeBoutillier.

North Andover Little League Opening Day Parade. Come cheer on your favorite players and coaches, join in singing our National Anthem and watch as the ceremonial first pitches are thrown.  The parade kicks off at 9:00 and winds down Main Street (from the St. Michael's parking lot) to Waverly Road and on to Carl Thomas Field.  

All Aboard for a Model Railroad Show. The Contoocook Riverway Association's second annual Model Railroad Show is at the Hopkinton High School in Contoocook on Saturday from 10-4.  Tour the restored Contoocook Depot, passenger coach, and covered train bridge.  Lots of vendors, operating layouts, new & used model trains & accessories, raffles, food, and free parking.  https://www.contoocookdepot.org/trainshow.html

Tulip Festival Open House at the Stevens Coolidge Place on Saturday from 10 - 2.  Begin your day with a tour of the historic estate (first come, first serve basis), followed by some friendly competition at corn hole, tip toe through the tulips with a guided tour and end the afternoon with a picnic on the lawn or make a flower sun catcher to bring home. Spring Pops Concert - Stage and Screen - by the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday at 2:00 at the beautiful Nevins Memorial Library in Methuen.  A fun and energetic program that features favorites across the entertainment medium including Broadway hits, classical pieces from ballet and opera as well as instantly recognizable themes from film and television, this performance truly represents both “Stage and Screen”.  https://www.lowellphilharmonic.org/
